WebShare is proud to give back to the communities in which we work, and we see our commitment to social responsibility as an obligation to improve the quality of life of our employees and families, as well as to make a positive contribution to the world community wherever and whenever we can.

Scholarships

While most of us take public schooling for granted, there are many for which education is not an affordable option. WebShare is happy to sponsor scholarships in the outskirts of San Jose, Costa Rica, giving children the ability to attend school and receive an education that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford.

Starting as early as the equivalent of grade school in the United States, WebShare is making it possible for Costa Rican kids to go to school and receive the supplies they need to get a jump start on their education.

Beyond Solar

WebShare is proud to support Beyond Solar (http://www.beyondsolar.org), a grassroots initiative dedicated to bringing renewable energy to communities in the developing world. Beyond Solar focuses on providing solar powered lighting solutions from solar lanterns to home lighting systems.

Currently, Beyond Solar is involved in a project bringing integrated solar powered lighting to 50 village homes in rural India, improving quality of life one family at a time.

Hurricane Katrina / Rita Relief

The corporate response to the hurricanes that hit the Gulf Coast in 2005 was immense, and WebShare employees joined in the effort.

Under the direction of the American Red Cross, a team of volunteers from a number of companies and organizations helped to convert churches, warehouses, and stadiums into fully functional processing centers and temporary shelters for those affected by the hurricanes.

The team installed networking equipment, IP phones and internet connectivity and configured and deployed thousands of donated laptop computers at sites across Louisiana and Texas. WebShare is proud to have been able to help in this wonderful effort.

MS 150 – Team Bikenrocker Sponsor

Team Bikenrocker is a team of bike riders started by the Reichenbacher family.

Pat Reichenbacher, mother of WebShare employee Dave Reichenbacher, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) over 15 years ago. Pat was “lucky” that she exhibited signs of MS later in life so her progression has been slower compared to others affected by this debilitating disease.

Dave and his wife Kaia wanted to help fight this disease so they began participating in National Multiple Sclerosis Society fund raisers, one of those being MS Bike Tours. Eventually they formed Team Bikenrocker to help fund raise and participate in the tours.

Multiple WebShare employees have been happy to be members of Team Bikenrocker, and in it’s 6 years of existence the team has raised almost $50,000 to help find a cure for MS.

WebShare has been a proud lead sponsor over the past couple years for Team Bikenrocker, and you can expect to see Team Bikenrocker riding in 2008. Get out and ride!

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease that affects the central nervous system. It is not contagious and is not directly inherited. Most people with MS have a normal or near-normal life expectancy. The majority of people with MS do not become severely disabled. To learn more about MS and what you can do to find a cure please visit the National MS Society.

San Diego Beach Cleanups and Volunteer Projects

WebShare employees have been happy to participate in beach cleanups and other volunteer community service projects in San Diego’s Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and Ocean Beach communities.

Keeping the areas beaches clean and open for everyone to enjoy is a cause that is easy to get behind!

Most recently, WebShare employees participated in the Memorial Day beach cleanup effort, commissioning dozens of giant trash bins, handing out trash bags, and combing the beaches for garbage and recyclables.

These kinds of efforts are key in promoting responsible use of our natural playgrounds.

Proyecto Ecologico Quetzal – Guatemala

Founding partner David Booth spent two years working with this ecological project as part of a United States Peace Corps assignment, and WebShare is happy to be able to continue providing support for this wonderful organization.

Proyecto Eco-Quetzal is based in Alta Verapaz, Guatemala, and has as its mission to conserve, value, and protect cultural and natural resources by improving standards of living in rural Guatemalan communities. The organization has made an enormous difference in the lives of some of the most impoverished people in the region, and its projects include beginning and advancing sustainable agriculture, and any other productive activity that prevents the deterioration of the natural resources of Alta Verapaz.
