Design of Experiments: All experiments are written with a predetermined question in mind. We will design an experiment that will be able to answer your questions about your site, and will be appropriate to your site’s traffic levels and other test design criteria. Here are some of the more common tests we conduct:
- A/B Split Testing: This is ideal in situations where you would like to test two versions of the same page (A and B). This is the simplest test you can do and requires the least amount of data to complete.
- A/B/N Split Testing: This is an extension of A/B testing, including up to N versions. This type of testing typically requires a larger sample size to complete your test.
- Multivariate Testing: In this case we typically employ a full or fractional factorial experiment that allows you to test a number of variables at a number of levels. This test is very powerful but requires more time to complete. One of its benefits is the ability to understand if interactions exist between the different variables, giving us an end result of the best combination of variables and levels.
Sample Size Determination: In order for a test to be complete, you’ll need to find a statistical difference or determine that no difference was found. The amount of time needed to draw these conclusions will depend on several factors ranging from the number of visitors your site receives per day to the level of confidence you want to have in the results. We can help you determine approximately how long your test will need to run, and since more complex tests require more data, this information will allow you to balance out the number of variables with the time to complete the test.
Statistical Analysis: WebShare can help you analyze your data set to understand what it is telling you about your test. We often find that a number of tools can provide our clients with data and will draw very high level conclusions, and we can take this a step further with the detailed analysis that allows you to make the most of your data.
